Lead Engineer End User Computing

Join an organisation that protects people, technology and buildings worldwide, with incredible impact – and incredible benefits too. We’re FCO Services: the team who work with UK and friendly foreign government bodies, to provide them with vital secure services, from embassy construction to IT installation to global delivery of diplomatic goods.

That kind of work needs an impressively global team – not to mention complex internal IT infrastructure to allow it all to happen seamlessly. And that’s where you’ll come in, as our Lead Engineer in End User Computing.

Enable the team to provide exceptional solutions
Wherever our colleagues are in the world, your team are the ones who’ll provide frontline support for their vital IT equipment, from desktops to laptops and tablets. Within a tight-knit team, you’ll manage, mentor and motivate four skilled engineers, supporting them with your deep expertise, customer understanding, and ahead-of-the-curve technical knowhow on everything from internet proxies to server infrastructure. When it comes to the most complex problems, and handling unexpected challenges that need innovative solutions, you’ll be there to help them make it happen.

Ensure smooth service for staff worldwide
Within FCO Services, there are hundreds of projects going on globally at any given moment. Your team’s service will reflect that, providing 7AM to 7PM support to colleagues across continents. You’ll manage rotation and shift patterns, to ensure the team is there for everyone, even at the busiest times. Above all, you’ll be focussed on ensuring a smooth-running service – one where ticketed issues are fixed on time, where communication is clear and helpful, and where teams across FCO Services know they can rely on you for efficient, effective support.

Bring flexible expertise – and find brilliant rewards
As well as extensive technical knowledge, we also need you to have experience in this kind of challenging environment, with the flexibility to apply your expertise to some unusual problems. Whether it’s helping a colleague in a remote location with unreliable electricity, or even supporting skeleton crews through the current Covid-19 crisis, this is a role where you’ll guide your team through new territory on a regular basis.

But while the role offers real challenges, you’ll also find real support here too – both for you and your loved ones, with flexible working possibilities on offer. Plus, you’ll find great benefits, like our Civil Service pension and expert training opportunities. And of course, you’ll have the pride that comes with enabling a team who protect people, assets and information worldwide. In short? It’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before joining us, so you will need to undergo a vetting process if you’re successful in your application. This role would require you to undergo Security Check (SC) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website.
