Permanent and fixed term contracts are available

Welcome to FCO Services. Our team works to support UK and friendly foreign government bodies worldwide. Together, we provide everything from embassy construction in Europe, to cyber security for a high commission in Asia, to rolling out secure WiFi for government sites here in the UK.

To enable all that to happen, we also need an outstanding logistics team. Arranging secure deliveries, courier services and airfreight all over the world, they make sure that our teams have all the equipment and supplies they need, so that every project runs smoothly for our government customers.

As one of our Warehouse Operatives, you’ll be a key part of supporting that effort, working across the department. You might help receive goods into our warehouse at Hanslope Park. Or pack diplomatic goods for dispatch. Or see that our stock is perfectly stored. Or work in the office to help plan and prioritise our shipments. There’s so much to do and learn, and over time you’ll find your niche, training as a specialist in one of our teams.

Take in the fine details – and take on real challenges

The work we do is vitally important, because we’re ensuring that government work can continue around the world. That means there are high standards of security to follow, a lot of details to think about, and you’ve got to pick it all up quickly. So, while we’d prefer you to have previous warehouse experience too, the most important thing is that you’re inquisitive and ready to learn, asking questions and picking up knowledge from everyone around you, every day.

Support a team that supports worldwide projects

Reliable and hard-working, you’ll quickly become an integral part of this tight-knit team. You’ll pitch in wherever you’re needed, learning new skills as you go, and you’ll help others in whatever way you can. If you spot a way the team can improve, you’ll always share your opinion constructively, helping us all work together in new and better ways.

Explore your interests – and defend the UK’s interests too

With plenty of Learning and Development options along the way, this is the chance to explore what suits you best. On any given day, we might deal with everything from packing computer equipment for a new embassy to planning how to transport a half-tonne piece of air defence equipment. It’s richly varied, and you’ll throw yourself into whatever comes your way, expanding your knowledge and finding stepping stones to take you higher. Plus, with flexible working and a supportive team, it’s a place to be your whole self too, within an organisation that works to defend people, information and assets everywhere. In short, it’s your job, bigger.

Want to see your future team’s work in action? Step into our Virtual Embassy and select a guide – we suggest ‘Working in our warehouse, garage, and UK & Overseas secure logistics supply chain’ – to take you round. There, you’ll see how the team delivers for government customers and how you could help. Explore the embassy now at fcoscareers.co.uk/virtual-embassy

All our employees have to be security cleared so you will need to undergo a vetting process before joining.

Please note that this vacancy is a rolling recruitment and interviews will take place on a regular basis for suitable candidates. This vacancy may be closed prior to the closing date if a candidate is successful at interview.
