Logistics Apprenticeship

There are 2 positions available on this apprenticeship.

An international business can only thrive if it has a stellar Logistics team: the colleagues who skillfully make sure that all kinds of deliveries make their way safely around the globe. Whether you’re a school-leaver, a career changer looking for a new challenge, or just looking to enhance your current skills, you could help provide that vital service on the FCO Services Logistics Apprenticeship. With instant hands-on experience, paid qualifications, and a truly rewarding sense of impact, you’d be on the path to a career to be proud of.

But who exactly are we?
You may not know FCO Services yet, but we work with government-level customers to protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We do that through a wide range of services, all delivered to the highest security standards, including construction, digital solutions, communications, logistics, and counter-eavesdropping.

So what will you do?
Over a packed 15 months, you’ll learn how to take deliveries, check for damaged and missing items, store goods, pick and pack orders for shipment round the world, load goods for dispatch, maintain stock records – and even how to operate the machinery and vehicles that enable a smooth-running warehouse. As your apprenticeship progresses you’ll gain logistics planning skills and have opportunities to travel abroad as part of logistics projects. By the end of the programme, you’ll have developed the skills to contribute to a well-oiled logistics network – and one that protects government work around the world.

But that’s not all. We’ll also support you while you work towards a Level 2 Logistics Apprenticeship qualification. And when you pass your final assessments, there’s a good chance we’ll offer you a full-time role.

In short, you’ll build your skills, make a difference and widen your options – all with the benefits of a career in the Civil Service. So we think it’s fair to say your world just got bigger.

What we look for
Our Logistics apprenticeship is open to people of all ages but you must:

• Be a British Citizen who’s lived in the UK for the last three years before the first day of your apprenticeship (usually September of the year you apply), and for at least five of the last 10 years
• Have at least two GCSEs (or equivalent e.g. O Levels) including Maths and English, at grades 9-5 (A*-C)
• Be genuinely interested in logistics.

If you already have a qualification at the same or a higher level, you may not be able to apply unless the apprenticeship qualification provides learning and skills that are materially different to what you’ve studied before.

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.
The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every one of them, so they always know they’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer, Stonewall Diversity Champions, and a member of Employers for Carers - and it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.

Your salary
Your starting salary will be £16,160 plus £1,750 location allowance and we offer pay progression at key milestones during the apprenticeship. If you’re offered a permanent position on completion of the apprenticeship programme, the final salary would be in the region of £20,200 plus £1,750 location allowance.

All our employees have to be security cleared before joining us, so you will need to undergo a vetting process if you’re successful in your application. This role would require you to undergo Security Check (SC) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on the apprentice ‘How to apply page’ on this site or by searching vetting.
