Finance Apprenticeship

Two Positions Available.

Whether you’re a school leaver, a career changer, or just looking to enhance your current skills, you want to carve out a top-flight career in accounting and finance. More than that, you want work that matters. A Finance Apprenticeship at FCO Services will give you both. Combining paid study and exceptionally broad practical experience, it leads to a highly respected professional accounting qualification, plus membership of a professional body. At the same time, you’ll be helping to protect the work of the UK Government and friendly foreign governments around the world.

But who exactly are we?
You may not know FCO Services yet, but we work with government-level customers to protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We do that through a wide range of services, all delivered to the highest security standards, including construction, digital solutions, communications, logistics, and counter-eavesdropping.

So what will you do?
Well, through a series of placements across teams, you’ll learn to audit, provide business advice, and ultimately make sure our organisation’s finances are responsible, ethical and sustainable. But what really separates us from any other financial training? With us, you’ll be acting in the public interest, learning to make sure we provide the best value and quality for both governments and taxpayers.

But that’s not all. We’ll also support you while you work towards Chartered status and a professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. You’ll find yourself well on the way to becoming a respected expert – with a good chance of a permanent position with us at the end of the programme.

In short, you’ll build your skills, make a difference and widen your options – all with the benefits of a career in the Civil Service. So we think it’s fair to say your world just got bigger.

What we look for
Our Finance apprenticeship is open to people of all ages but you must:

• Be a British Citizen who’s lived in the UK for the last three years before the first day of your apprenticeship (usually September of the year you’re applying), and for at least five of the last ten years
• Have at least two GCSEs (or equivalent e.g. O Levels) including Maths and English at grades 9-5 (A*-C)
• Have EITHER business or accountancy-related experience OR a Level 4 qualification (e.g. Level 4 NVQ, Higher Apprenticeship) in a related subject
• Be genuinely interested in finance.

If you already have a qualification at the same or a higher level, you may not be able to apply unless the apprenticeship qualification provides learning and skills that are materially different to what you’ve studied before.

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.
The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every one of them, so they always know they’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer, Stonewall Diversity Champions, and a member of Employers for Carers - and it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.

Your salary
Your starting salary will be £17,369 plus £1,750 location allowance and we offer pay progression at key milestones during the apprenticeship. If you’re offered a permanent position on completion of the apprenticeship programme, the final salary would be in the region of £28,948 plus £1,750 location allowance.

Vetting
All our employees have to be security cleared before joining us, so you will need to undergo a vetting process if you’re successful in your application. This role would require you to undergo Security Check (SC) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on the apprentice ‘How to apply page’ on this site or by searching Gov.uk vetting.
