Queens Messenger Admin Support Officer

At FCDO Services (formerly known as FCO Services), we protect information, assets and people for government bodies worldwide. Whether it’s building and repairing embassies, delivering diplomatic goods across borders, or installing secure IT for government buildings, our vital work is vast and high-impact.

Nowhere is that truer than in our Queen’s Messengers team who enable secure government deliveries every day. With a support team in the UK as well as travelling Queen’s Messengers, we ensure that diplomatic goods are escorted to their destination safely and securely. We also make sure nothing is examined or interfered with en route, in line with the Vienna Convention. It means the government bodies we work with can have peace of mind that their critical deliveries are in safe hands.

In the UK, that takes an exceptional support service. From managing a complex roster of time-sensitive deliveries, to making sure each Queen’s Messenger has the documentation they need for each trip, there’s a lot of meticulous planning to do and you’ll be part of it all as our new Queen’s Messenger Admin Support Officer.

Provide reliable support for a responsive service

We’re making deliveries between high-level government customers, so we have to keep to high standards, with a promise to be reliable, responsive, and build relationships of trust. Reporting to the Head of the Queen’s Messenger Admin Section, you’ll keep those goals at heart. You’ll assist in the planning of the Queen’s Messengers scheduled service, as well as supporting ad-hoc and time-sensitive projects, and you’ll aim for each and every delivery to run like clockwork.

Attention to detail, noticed at the highest levels

With a meticulous eye for fine detail - as well as a firm knowledge of the Office suite - you’ll validate invoices, compile details for completed deliveries, and maintain log sheets for diplomatic passports. You’ll even make sure that across borders and continents, every delivery complies with regional restrictions and with the Vienna Convention. In doing that, you’ll enable work that protects the UK’s interests at home and overseas.

Support colleagues – and support the nation

Ultimately, the Queen’s Messengers will rely on you. Whether it’s applying for visas, issuing diplomatic passports, or balancing the team’s personal needs as you organise the roster, you’ll enable their work to run smoothly. In time, you’ll also deliver courier briefings too, which means being a confident, inclusive communicator, building strong, supportive relationships with your team.

In turn, they’ll support you too, and you’ll also find exceptional opportunity to thrive and grow within FCDO Services. Whether it’s our generous Civil Service pension, or the endless opportunities for internal training and career growth, you’ll find true rewards here – and an incredible sense of pride in what you do. In short? It’s your job, bigger.
